Firstly the all important brides look. Hair and makeup = perfection in my opinion. Her hair was a very loose messy bun which I felt with the very stiff look of her dress but floaty effect of her enormous veil really was the perfect balance. Her makeup was light and natural which she always professes to be a huge fan of and loves being able to show off her freckles and why not. It’s lovely
to see a woman proud of her natural self and she certainly oozes confidence in who she is.
As for the much anticipated wedding dress designed by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy. I wasn’t a huge fan myself. I do understand the church gown has certain stipulations, for example covering the shoulder area. I just felt it was slightly stiff and really had no wow factor. I felt a lighter fabric would’ve changed the entire flow of the gown and it just felt somehow unfinished to me.
It’s all personal taste of course and I’ve seen a lot of people rave about it and the simple style will be many ladies choice I’d imagine, just not for me. Her veil however, I felt was stunning, absolutely gorgeous and the special touch of the flowers of the commonwealth embroidery on the train I thought was a lovely and heartfelt idea of the brides herself allegedly.
Now, as for her evening look. Wow wow wow wow. Her stunning Stella McCartney dress was out of this world in my opinion. The floaty, stunning feel it had was exactly what I had envisioned this free spirited woman in initially. She and Ms McCartney nailed the look completely. (I’m also informed that boohoo have done a copy dress which is available on their website. So get buying before it sells out which I’d imagine it will fast.) I think this dress and casual hair and makeup maybe one of my favorite bridal looks of all time.
I watched the lead up coverage on ITV also and all the celebs walking into the service. I really have to say I thought the beautiful summery colours and abundance of pastels really were a spectacular sight. Especially on one of the most beautiful days of the year weather wise so far. Everyone looks happier and healthier in beautiful sunlight and summery colours.
A few of my top stand out favourites straight away were Amal Clooney, Gina Torres, Camilla The duchess of Cornwall, David Beckham ( because he’s just ...,,.. perfect in a bin bag frankly), HRH the queen herself, Sarah Ferguson and Julia Clancy. Just a few of the real stunners right there. I thought the diversity of styles, colours and flamboyancy was a delight to see. It was a cross between a royal wedding and a red carpet event with everyone pulling out the stops to be stylish and respectful of the event.
I think also a real shout out had to go out the the Duchess of Cambridge who on the day frankly looked stunning for having had a baby a few weeks prior. She wore a previously showcased Alexander McQueen coat she’s obviously comfortable in which was both stylish and practical when dealing with small children Her Phillip Tracy hat added a new vibe to it and her nude jimmy choos gave her a simple, classy and timeless look. Her hair was worn in loose curls and sleeked to perfection and with minimal makeup. I personally thought she looked beautiful but then doesn’t she always!
Meghan’s mother Doria was chic in Oscar de la Renta and really was the hero of the day. Sat alone in a strange country surrounded by Hollywood elite and a royal family with the worlds eyes on her. What a brave beautiful woman and I’m sure her daughter was beyond proud.
All in all a beautiful day full of beautiful fashion and people.
